Liverpool's Sadio Mane scored one and made another as Senegal beat Tunisia 2-0 to go top of African Nations Cup Group B.

After Algeria and Zimbabwe had drawn in the opening match of the pool and draws in the first two matches in Group A, Senegal claimed the first win of the tournament.

Mane scored from the penalty spot before delivering a corner from which Kara Mbodji netted.

Senegal had a 100 percent record in qualifying for the finals and are the highest ranked African team in FIFA's world rankings,...

West Ham United and Senegal striker Diafra Sakho is facing up to eight weeks on the sidelines with a back injury.

Sakho, 26, has made only two Premier League appearances this season, and will now miss the festive period and next month's African Nations Cup.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic, speaking ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Swansea, said: "He had a back operation and he's going to be out for up to six to eight weeks. Of course it will rule him out for the African Cup of Nations."

Chelsea duo Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel scored for Nigeria as they continued their perfect start to World Cup qualifying with a 3-1 win against Algeria that left them four points clear at the top of Group B.

Moses was the architect of the win in Uyo as he first punished hesitant defending on 25 minutes, when he burst into the area and saw a weak attempt to clear fall back into his path for him to finish.

Ivory Coast and DR Congo open CAF third-round qualifying with wins

Wilfried Bony and Ivory Coast opened the third-round of CAF qualifying with a victory.

Ivory Coast top Group C in their third-round World Cup qualifying campaign after coming from behind to win 3-1 at home to Mali on Saturday.

Sambou Yatabare gave the visitors the lead after 18 minutes but the hosts hit back with three goals in eight first-half minutes before the break turned the match on its head.

Goals from Aston Villa's record signing Jonathan Kodjia and Gervinho, either side of a Salif Coulibaly own goal, were enough to secure all three points for the Ivory Coast.
