FIFA will cover the wages of Everton defender Seamus Coleman after he suffered a double leg fracture in Republic of Ireland's 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw against Wales in Dublin.

Republic captain Coleman suffered the injury in a challenge for which Wales wing-back Neil Taylor was sent off and has since undergone a successful operation.

He will miss the remainder of the Premier League season, with his wages being covered by the FIFA Club Protection Programme during that time.
