Former Paraguay international Salvador Cabanas is set to make his debut for a lower league team in Brazil, four years after he was shot in the head.

Former Paraguay international Salvador Cabanas is set to return to football four years after being shot in the head.

Cabanas, 33, received a near-fatal gunshot wound in a Mexico City bar on January 25, 2010 and still has a bullet fragment lodged in his skull.

As part of his recovery Cabanas trained with the Paraguay national team before attempting a comeback with Paraguayan third division outfit Club 12 de Octubre in January 2012 and went on to make 14 appearances in total.
