Costa Rica are into the Gold Cup semifinals after a Panama own goal saw Los Ticos win 1-0 on Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

Opportunities were few and far between in an uneventful first half, with Miguel Camargo's shot from distance the only legitimate shot on goal for Panama in the opening 20 minutes.

Giancarlo Gonzalez had a penalty shout waved off in the 23rd minute after being pulled down from behind following a corner kick and teammate Bryan Ruiz saw two late chances turned away...

Panama booked its place in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over Martinique in Cleveland on Saturday.

Michael Murillo, Abdiel Arroyo and Gabriel Torres had the goals as the Central American nation finished second in Group B behind the United States on the goals scored tiebreaker.

Panama's result, played before the U.S. kicked off, also ensured the tournament hosts, Mexico and Jamaica advanced to the knockout stage. Costa Rica, Canada and Honduras all advanced from Group A on Friday.

Ismael Diaz and Gabriel Torres scored seven minutes apart as Panama leapt into the Group B lead at the 2017 Gold Cup with a 2-1 victory over Nicaragua in Tampa.

Panama, who drew with the United States in their opening match, faced a deficit just after the break when Carlos Chavarria pounced on an errant pass and rifled his right-footed shoot past a helpless Jose Calderon in the Panamanian goal.

However, Nicaragua's lead would only last two minutes as Diaz leveled the score -- firing high...

Dom Dwyer says the U.S. will improve on their draw against Panama, but he wishes he added a couple more goals in Nashville.

You know it wasn't a good performance when a team's best player is its goalkeeper. That was the case for the United States in its 1-1 tie with Panama on Saturday in Nashville.

Had Los Canaleros been able to find the target with more regularity on the clear chances they created, we might very well be talking about the Americans' second-ever defeat in the group stage of a Gold Cup. Soccer justice might very well have been served if that had been the case. Brad Guzan had a lot to do with preserving...

U.S. left frustrated by 1-1 draw vs. Panama in Gold Cup opener

Brad Guzan expresses disappointment after the United States surrendered the lead in their Gold Cup draw against Panama.
Dom Dwyer says the U.S. will improve on their draw against Panama, but he wishes he added a couple more goals in Nashville.

Three quick thoughts from the United States' 1-1 draw versus Panama in their 2017 Gold Cup opener on Saturday in Nashville.

1. U.S. stumbles in opener

This was never going to be easy for the U.S. History said as much; in nine previous Gold Cup meetings between the two countries, the margin of victory has never been more than a single goal. Saturday was no different.

What will be a concern for U.S. coach Bruce Arena is how his team lost control of the match after Dom Dwyer's 50th-minute opener....
