FIFA gives Chile and Romania stadium bans, fines many Latin American FAs

Poland's Robert Lewandowski was caught in the explosion of fireworks in a game at Romania last month.

Chile and Romania have received stadium bans from FIFA, as the world governing body issued fines to a number of national football associations on Monday, including many for anti-gay chants in Latin America.

In a game with few chances and little open play, Panama had the best opportunities to break the deadlock but could not find a way past Guillermo Ochoa.

The draw sees both nations sitting on four points in the CONCACAF table, two points behind leaders Costa Rica after two matches played.

Mexico next take on the Ticos when CONCACAF qualifying matches resume in March 2017, while Panama head to Trinidad...

Dos Santos strengthens case for Mexico involvement vs. 'strong' U.S.

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Two games, two wins. That's what Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio would have wanted from El Tri's friendlies against New Zealand last Saturday and Panama on Tuesday. And that's what he and Mexico fans got.

Neither game will live too long in our memories, but each served its purpose, even without usual starters Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Jesus "Tecatito" Corona, Hector Herrera, Hector Moreno, Miguel Layun and Andres Guardado -- all of whom were left back in Europe to rest up ahead...
