Five things to watch for as Nigeria takes on Senegal, Burkina Faso

At 24, Ahmed Musa is the elder statesman of Nigeria's attack.

International football is back and Nigeria's Super Eagles face two friendly games against a pair of highly regarded African sides. Talent-stocked Senegal were runaway favourites at the African Nations Cup and, bar an unlucky penalty shootout loss to Cameroon, could well have been the champions of Africa.

Burkina Faso were just as unlucky to lose the semifinal to Egypt.

This excellent selection of opposition is in preparation for the African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers and there are expectations...

Ahmad's victory over Hayatou will give Nigerian football a bigger voice

Issa Hayatou and Sepp Blatter
Issa Hayatou was a close ally of former FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

On Thursday in Ethiopia, little known Madagascan Ahmad Ahmad defeated incumbent Issa Hayatou in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) elections to end the Cameroonian's 29-year stranglehold on African football.

Two men who publicly put their necks on the line to secure that victory for the 57-year-old Ahmad were Zimbabwean Phillip Chiyangwa and Nigerian Amaju Pinnick.

Rohr's latest Nigeria squad offers youth a chance and few other surprises

Tyronne Ebuehi
Tyronne Ebuehi is one of three players aged 21 or younger receiving a first senior call-up in the latest Nigeria squad.

Watford striker Isaac Success was called up last year by Nigeria.

Watford striker Isaac Success has been handed another opportunity to make his first appearance for Nigeria, as the Super Eagles prepare to play two friendly matches against Senegal and Burkina Faso in England this month.

Success, 21, was first called up last year by Nigeria for the opening 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia, but withdrew from the squad with injury, along with Victor Moses.

The forward was subsequently left out of previous games, with some reports suggesting he was being...

FIFA bans former ExCo member Amos Adamu of Nigeria for a second time

Amos Adamu has again run afoul of FIFA's ethics committee.

Former FIFA executive committee member Amos Adamu has received a second ban for unethical conduct.

FIFA's ethics committee said on Tuesday that its latest ban was the result of Adamu's "involvement in the organization of an event in 2010" which violated the rules of conduct and constituted a conflict of interest.

A FIFA investigation report, published in 2014, cited an article in The Sunday Times which alleged that Qatar's 2022 World Cup bid team paid $1 million to Adamu's son to "sponsor" an "African...
