Munir El Haddadi Spain call-up not to prevent him from playing for Morocco

France had all the chances of the match and recorded a deserved 1-0 victory over Spain in Paris through substitute, Loic Remy's second-half strike.

Vicente del Bosque says Munir El Haddadi was called up to the Spain squad as he was the logical choice, not because the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) want to secure the player's international future ahead of Morocco.

Medhi Benatia's Bayern bow good for Morocco and Africa

Roma defender Medhi Benatia is set for a move to Bayern Munich as Bayern look to replace injured Javi Martinez.

Among the moves from Africa are some small but important ones, such as highly rated Ethiopian striker Saladin Said's from Wadi Degla to Egyptian giants Al-Ahly. Others cover less ground and may have less of an impact, like Mubarak Wakaso, the Ghanaian who has gone from Rubin Kazan to Celtic.

There were some unexpected transfers (in terms of destination), like Zambian midfielder Isaac Chansa's exit from his home country, where he played for Zanaco, to Lajong FC in the Indian Super League. And there...

Libya withdraw as 2017 Cup hosts

Violence-plagued Libya conceded the country won't be able to host the African Cup of Nations in 2017 because of security concerns, throwing organisers into a frantic rush Saturday to find a new venue for the continent's top football tournament.

After announcing Libya's withdrawal as host, the Confederation of African Football gave countries interested in hosting in Libya's place until the end of September -- barely a month -- to submit their bids.

Algeria, Cameroon, Guinea, Ivory Coast and Zambia...

MOSCOW -- Yuri Zhirkov scored a spectacular volley as Russia finished their pre-World Cup friendlies with a 2-0 win over Morocco on Friday.

Zhirkov made sure of the win with his first international goal in the 58th minute after center back Vasily Berezutsky put Russia in front in the 29th from a corner.

There were injury worries for Russia as midfielders Roman Shirokov and Denis Glushakov both missed the game.

Shirokov, Russia's regular captain, has missed all of their World Cup warmups. On the...
