Borussia Dortmund reveal intention to sign Achraf Hakimi

Borussia Dortmund managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that the German heavyweights are planning to sign on-loan Real Madrid defender Achraf Hakimi on a permanent basis.

BVB unveiled Paco Alcacer, who had been at the club on a loan deal from Barcelona, as a new permanent signing on Friday after exercising the option to buy the striker for €23 million.

Hakimi only moved to the Westfalenstadion on a two-year loan deal in July, but after an impressive start to the season, Dortmund...

Morocco beat Tunisia to end 2018 on a high

Morocco drew a line under an encouraging 2018 with a 1-0 victory away in Tunisia on Tuesday evening.

Youssef En-Nesyri scored the only goal of the game in the 41st minute - the sixth strike of his international career - from close range after Medhi Benatia's free kick bounced back off the post and into his path.

Tunisia started the better of the two teams in an ill-tempered affair on a poor pitch, although En-Nesyri had the better of the first-half chances.

The hosts pressed intensely as they sought...

Spain FA chief thanks country's president for World Cup plan backing

Having won the World Cup with France himself in 1998, Frank Leboeuf tells the FC crew he understands Paul Pogba's struggle to refocus.

The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has thanked the country's Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, for his backing of a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

On Monday, Sanchez announced plans for a bid to be made alongside Portugal and Morocco.

"In these cases, you have the football side and that of diplomacy," RFEF president Luis Rubiales told reporters on Tuesday.

"I believe the prime minister has taken a further step and has done so to help football, and we have to thank...

Spain, Portugal, Morocco considering joint 2030 World Cup bid

Spain and Portugal are considering a joint intercontinental bid with Morocco to host the 2030 World Cup, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Monday.

Sanchez was on a visit to the Moroccan capital of Rabat and met with Prime Minister Saadedin Al Othmani and King Mohamed to discuss the possibility of bidding for world soccer's global showpiece tournament.

"I made a proposal to the government [of Morocco] to organise a joint bid between Spain, Portugal and Morocco to host the 2030 World Cup,"...

Malawi defeat sends Morocco to Africa Cup of Nations

Morocco confirmed their place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday as Malawi were defeated 2-1 by already eliminated Comoros in Moroni.

The Atlas Lions defeated Cameroon 2-0 in Casablanca on Friday to move up to 10 points with one game to play.

Malawi could have only stood a chance of overhauling Herve Renard's side if they'd beaten Comoros away, but in the event, a 2-1 defeat confirms their elimination.

In-form El-Fardou Ben Mohamed opened the scoring for the host after two minutes...
