Germany maintain perfect campaign, Jermain Defoe strikes in England win

Andre Schurrle scored a brace to help keep Germany perfect in Group C of UEFA World Cup qualifying.

Germany survived a first-half wobble to defeat Azerbaijan 4-1 and maintain their 100 percent record in World Cup qualifying.

It seemed to be plain sailing for the 2014 winners when Andre Schurrle put the visitors ahead on 19 minutes, meeting Jonas Hector's pass to hit home, but Azerbaijan were soon back in it.

Dimitrij Nazarov's right-footed effort beat Bernd Leno to surprise the Group C heavyweights, but parity did not last long.

Schurrle found Thomas Muller and the Bayern Munich ace...

Gevorg Ghazharyan struck deep into injury time as Armenia fought back from two goals down to grab a dramatic 3-2 win over Montenegro in World Cup qualifying group E.

The visitors looked set to maintain their place at the top of the group after two goals in as many first-half minutes from Damir Kojasevic and Stevan Jovetic, the latter a delightful chip after a defensive error, put them in control in Yerevan.

But Armenia, without a point from their three previous games in the group, reduced the deficit...

Fatos Beciraj was Montenegro's match-winner in their World Cup qualifier against Denmark in Copenhagen.

The Dynamo Moscow forward struck the only goal of the game as Montenegro moved joint-top of Group E alongside Poland following the 1-0 success.

Denmark, who have now suffered two defeats in four days after losing in Poland on Saturday, went close through a Viktor Fischer header but the ball went over the crossbar.
