Germany maintain perfect campaign, Jermain Defoe strikes in England win

Andre Schurrle scored a brace to help keep Germany perfect in Group C of UEFA World Cup qualifying.

Germany survived a first-half wobble to defeat Azerbaijan 4-1 and maintain their 100 percent record in World Cup qualifying.

It seemed to be plain sailing for the 2014 winners when Andre Schurrle put the visitors ahead on 19 minutes, meeting Jonas Hector's pass to hit home, but Azerbaijan were soon back in it.

Lithuania's Slivka ahead of England clash: 'We always go just for a victory'

Vykintas Slivka
Vykintas Slivka is confident Lithuania can secure a result at Wembley on Sunday.

Lithuania midfielder Vykintas Slivka believes his team can beat the odds in their World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley.

Lithuania have reason to be optimistic against the Three Lions, as they surprised everyone at the start of the campaign by keeping Scotland and Slovenia not only at bay, but by almost beating them. In both matches, Lithuania were leading towards the end but then conceded in injury time.

Lithuania boss Jankauskas: 'Iceland would be a great example to follow'

Lithuania will bid to emulate Iceland by claiming a shock victory over England at Wembley on Sunday.

Manager Edgaras Jankauskas admitted Lithuania would love to haunt England with a victory every bit as damaging as Iceland's Euro 2016 triumph, in this weekend's World Cup qualifying Group F clash in London.

Iceland were ranked 34th in the world when they floored England with a 2-1 win in the last 16 of the European Championship last year, while Lithuania currently sit 107th in the world standings.
