Abel Ruiz's 90th minute penalty helped Spain squeak into the quarterfinals of the Under-17 World Cup with 2-1 win over France in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The tournament hasn't been set ablaze so far and perhaps this is the time for real heroes. This is how the matchups look like.

France rallied from a goal down to hand a 5-1 drubbing to Honduras and qualify for the round of 16 as group toppers in the FIFA U-17 World Cup at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday.

France had already booked a Round of 16 berth before the game but they now go into the knockout stages with an all-win record in Group E.

They will now face Group D runners-up Spain -- European U-17 winners -- in Guwahati on October 17.

Despite the loss, Honduras also qualified for the knockouts...

Spain coach: 'We need to improve in defence the most'

If France can avoid a defeat at the hands of Honduras at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Guwahati on October 14, then one of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup round of 16 games will see the French meeting European champions Spain, in a replay of a European quarter-final played earlier this year in Croatia.

Spain confirmed their place for the clash by sealing second place in Group D with a 2-0 win over North Korea in Kochi on Friday evening, and are slated to meet the winners of Group E in the next round....
