Jan Vertonghen on Belgium's World Cup advantage over England and Harry Kane

Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen believes it will be tough to beat England at the 2018 World Cup but he is looking forward to facing Spurs team mates Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Alli.
After Harry Kane passes Lionel Messi for the most goals in all competitions in 2017, the FC panel debate where Kane stands among the world's best players.

LONDON -- Harry Kane will treat his Tottenham teammates to a meal out this week to thank them for their part in his annus mirabilis but, for two among them, Kane's record-breaking year is both a cause for celebration and a nagging concern. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, the Belgium centre-backs, will be tasked with stopping the most potent striker in Europe when they meet Kane and England at the World Cup in Kaliningrad on June 28.

Kane is one of six Spurs players expected to be in England's...

Sam Allardyce a perfect manager for the autumn of Wayne Rooney's career

Relive all three of Wayne Rooney's goals against West Ham, including one from the halfway line that gave him his hat trick.

Wayne Rooney's disgust was obvious. After 74 minutes of frustration against Leicester City, caretaker manager David Unsworth decided that Everton would have more chance of getting back into the game without their veteran attacker on the pitch. England's top goalscorer of all time appeared to say something before accepting his fate and trudging back to the dug-out.

Was Unsworth making a public play for the job on a permanent basis, proving to the live television audience that he had the courage to...

England should reach quarterfinals after generous World Cup draw

Stewart Robson feels England lucked out and got a fairly easy group that contains Belgium, Panama and Tunisia.
The ESPN FC panel feel England should emerge from Group G, but first must overcome the fear factor of World Cups.
Dan Thomas and the FC crew believe the top-seeded countries will all be delighted with their matchups at the World Cup.

Gareth Southgate will be respectful and considered when assessing England's opponents in Group G, but having been paired with Belgium, Tunisia and World Cup debutants Panama, he will privately be punching the air in celebration. But that is not necessarily a good thing from England's point of view.

The biggest threat to their hopes of progression to the knock-out stages will be complacency, and that ultimately proved their downfall, in humiliating fashion, when eliminated from Euro 2016 by Iceland.

World Cup Group G: Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England

ESPN FC's Stewart Robson reckons Group G is easy for England.

Of the groups with two European sides, this one is only upstaged by Group B with Portugal and Spain.

England know better than to underestimate anyone after the goalless draws with Algeria in 2010 and Costa Rica in 2014.

Tunisia will be hungry upon qualifying for the first time since 2006, while Panama are already national heroes and won't be playing under any pressure.

Predicted finish

Gary Lineker gives England tough opener in World Cup practice draw

Just a few days ahead of the real thing, a full rehearsal of the 2018 World Cup group-stage draw took place in Moscow with co-host Gary Lineker overseeing the dry run.

The former England striker shared a photo from the practice draw, which produced an intriguing (but entirely hypothetical) opening tie for the Three Lions.

England were drawn in Group A alongside Russia, ensuring a tricky first match against the host nation.

"First full rehearsal of the draw has thrown up this beauty of an opening...

Daniel Sturridge to leave Liverpool in January to chase World Cup dream

Craig Burley takes to the touchscreen after another vintage Mohamed Salah display saw Liverpool topple Southampton.

With the January window on the horizon, there's plenty brewing in the transfer market. All the latest deals and potential deals can be found here.

Sturridge ready to force Liverpool exit

Daniel Sturridge is prepared to leave Liverpool in January in order to save his World Cup dream, reports the Mirror.

The Reds were initially against a loan deal, after enquiries from Paris Saint-Germain last January, but may be open to such a deal after Jurgen Klopp failed to use the England striker in the 3-0 victory...
