Daniel van Buyten retires

Daniel van Buyten's final appearance came in Belgium's World Cup quarterfinal defeat to Argentina.

Former Belgium international Daniel van Buyten has retired from football.

Van Buyten, 36, left Bayern Munich at the end of last season after an eight-year spell at the club during which he won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal four times apiece as well as the 2013 Champions League.

He had most recently been expected to return to his homeland with Anderlecht, but he has now confirmed that he has decided to end his career.

Liverpool lead race to sign Divock Origi

With Luis Suarez leaving and several big signings coming in for Liverpool, the ESPN FC team discuss the possibility of Liverpool becoming the Spurs of last season.

Socceroos announce trio of friendlies
