Safuwan Bahrudin hails brave Singapore in Suzuki Cup warm up

Safuwan Bahrudin scored his seventh international goal against Bahrain in Thursday's friendly.

"Brave" is the word that Singapore midfielder Safuwan Baharudin used to describe the Lions' 3-1 defeat away to Bahrain in an international friendly on Thursday night.

The Singapore squad returned home late on Friday from their Suzuki Cup warm up match at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa.

Once again, Safuwan showed his knack for scoring in every competition he plays in, providing the equaliser that allowed Singapore to go to half-time on level terms. But, ultimately, it proved to be in vain...

Safuwan scores but Singapore fall 3-1 away to Bahrain in Riffa

Safuwan Baharudin scored a first-half equaliser for Singapore.

A much-improved Singapore side went down 3-1 to Bahrain in an international friendly at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa on Thursday night.

The Southeast Asian giants were determined to make amends for their shock 2-1 loss to Cambodia in their last international friendly, and V. Sundramoorthy's team almost pulled off the impossible in humid conditions.

The United States and Bahrain under-19 men's national teams were involved in a violent brawl at the end of a match at the COTIF Tournament in Spain on Monday.

Both Bahrain and U.S. benches emptied in the brawl, which lasted a number...

Facing elimination if they failed to win in Xian, China brought the game to life just before the hour. Qatari goalkeeper Amine Lecomte saved from point-blank range but was helpless as the rebound was hit against the underside of the bar and bounced out.

The ball found its way to Huang Bowen, whose shot on the turn...

Australia, Jordan cruise in World Cup qualifiers as Thailand, Japan advance

Australia hammered Tajikistan 7-0 in AFC World Cup qualifying in Ange Postecoglou's biggest win as head coach on Thursday.

The Socceroos went ahead through Massimo Luongo in the second minute, then Mile Jedinak slotted home a penalty in the 13th and went into the break at 2-0.

However, the floodgates opened in the second half as another penalty from Mark Milligan made it 3-0 in the 57th minute and Nathan Burns and Tomas Rogic both netted braces in the latter stages to put a gloss on the scoreline.
