Switzerland confirm World Cup squad; Granit Xhaka, Stephan Lichtsteiner included

Switzerland's 23-man World Cup squad includes Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka and transfer target Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Xhaka suffered an injury scare in the run-in to the squad deadline, while Lichtsteiner has insisted his focus is on Russia and not talk of a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Stoke's want-away winger Xherdan Shaqiri also features but West Ham's Edimilson Fernandes has been cut after featuring in their 1-1 draw with Spain on Sunday.

Switzerland will head to Russia with 17 of the same players who went to Euro 2016, while nine have at least 50 caps.
