Swansea defender Jordi Amat out six weeks with knee ligament strain

SWANSEA, Wales -- Swansea defender Jordi Amat will be out for six weeks after straining knee ligaments in the 4-2 defeat at Chelsea in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Amat was substituted at halftime, and Swansea says on its website he had a scan on Sunday before a consultant confirmed the strained lateral ligament the following day.

The 22-year-old central defender has started all four of Swansea's matches so far in the Premier League, of which it has won three.

He was replaced at halftime by Federico Fernandez, the Argentina World Cup player who has made only one start for Swansea since his transfer from Napoli last month.
