Sunderland charged for failing to control players vs. Everton

Sunderland have been charged by the Football Association with failing to control their players during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton at the Stadium of Light.

The Sunderland players were incensed by referee Lee Mason's decision to give a penalty to the Toffees in the 76th minute after Connor Wickham brought down Seamus Coleman in the box.

Leighton Baines made no mistake from the spot to equalise after Sebastian Larsson had given the Black Cats the lead nine minutes earlier with a stunning free kick.

The FA statement read: "Sunderland have been charged by The FA following their game against Everton on 9 November 2014.

"It is alleged that in or around the 76th minute of the game, the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

"The club has until 6pm on 17 November 2014 to respond to the charge.''
