Cabral seeking Sunderland exit

Cabral could leave Sunderland this month and would welcome a move to a Championship club, his agent has said.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has made it clear that Cabral, along with defender Modibo Diakite, is not part of his future plans for the club.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, his agent, Walter Fernandez, has hinted that a move to the Championship may be in sight for the 25-year-old.

"He wants to stay in England," Fernandez told the Sunderland Echo. "We are looking at Italy and Spain too, but we are trying to find a club in the Premier League or the Championship.

"It's not a problem to play in the Championship -- there are a lot of interesting teams there.

"We are still trying to find the right solution. I have spoken with clubs, but nothing has been agreed yet."

Cabral, who spent time on loan at Genoa last season, appears likely to make another temporary switch.

"A permanent transfer is not easy, so I think a loan might be more possible," Fernandez said.

Cabral has made one Premier League appearance for Sunderland to date, which came in a 1-0 defeat to Fulham at the Stadium of Light in the first game of last season.

Meanwhile, Real Betis have announced the signing of Alfred N'Diaye from Sunderland.

The midfielder has agreed a five-year contract with the Segunda Division club.
