Silvio Berlusconi's Monza play down talk of move for AC Milan legend Kaka

Serie C club Monza have told ESPN FC that Ricardo Kaka is not likely to join them after he was linked with a move.

Monza, who have been taken over by former AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, asked about signing Antonio Cassano, who turned them down, and former Milan star Kaka -- who made made 307 appearances and scored 104 goals for the club -- has been reported to be a target.

His friendship with Berlusconi led to contact between the parties but no more than that, the club said.

"As you know we've just changed ownership with Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani, and Kaka was of course a pillar of their Milan side, but there is nothing substantial [to the rumours]," a Monza spokesman told ESPN FC.

"He's sure to have spoken with Berlusconi and Galliani, but this is more a question for Galliani."

Kaka was recently in Milan, where he has been tipped to return to the Rossoneri as a director, but the 36-year-old -- who ended his playing career last year -- recently said he wanted to spend time with his family in Brazil and would not be returning to Italy at the moment.

"This also applies to us," the Monza spokesman added. "He is likely to stay in South America."
