Carlos Tevez not coming back to Boca Juniors 'for now' - president Angelici

Tevez action Chinese Super League 170624
Carlos Tevez has been in Argentina to receive treatment on a calf injury.

Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici has met with Carlos Tevez in Buenos Aires but said that the Shanghai Shenhua forward will not be returning to the club anytime soon.

Tevez left Boca in December to sign a lucrative two-year contact with the Chinese Super League side, but the 33-year-old's recent trip to Argentina has fuelled speculation that he could join his former club for a third stint this month.

Tevez is in his native Argentina receiving treatment on a calf injury but is expected back in China before next month.

Angelici tweeted a photograph of the two sitting together on a bench with the message: "I spent the afternoon with Carlitos and his family after several months. We spoke about his present in China and his future."

He added: "He is not coming back for now but I trust that one day he will wear the Boca Juniors jersey again."

Tevez's agent, Adrian Ruocco, revealed last month that his client can only exercise a release clause in his Shenhua contract in December, one year into his deal with the Chinese club.

The pressures related to being a Boca player off the pitch were the main reason for Tevez's departure from the Argentine club last December, with the forward saying this month his move to China saw him "gain in terms of family life but not from a football standpoint."

Injuries have not allowed him to show his best form in China -- he has scored just two goals while setting up four more in 11 league starts.

Tevez, who enjoyed plenty of success in the Premier League with Manchester United and Manchester City and in Serie A with Juventus before returning to Boca in 2015, said he "missed" playing for his hometown club but has not made a decision on whether to return.
