West Ham set to sign William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon - reports

William Carvalho helped Portugal to win Euro 2016.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho is close to joining West Ham United in a deal worth around £30 million, according to reports.

The BBC said West Ham, beaten 4-0 at Manchester United in their Premier League opener on Sunday, have already had a bid for the Portugal international turned down but manager Slaven Bilic now hoped a move could go through.

Sky Sports reported that the Londoners and Sporting were now in "advanced talks" about a deal for Carvalho, 25.

Reports in Portugal said he was due to travel to London on Monday, having been left out of the Sporting squad for the Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest.

Carvalho helped Portugal to victory in last summer's European Championship in France.
