Javier Hernandez is wanted by 'several clubs,' amid West Ham speculation

Stewart Robson assesses rumours around Neymar, Chicharito, Alexis Sanchez and many more in Rumour Rater.

Mexico international Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez could leave Bayer Leverkusen, the Bundesliga club's sporting director Rudi Voller has confirmed, amid reports of interest from West Ham.

Chicharito, 29, joined Leverkusen on a three-year contract from Manchester United during the final days of the 2015 summer transfer window, and having entered the final 12 months of his current deal could move on this summer.

After scoring 26 goals in 40 matches in his first season at Leverkusen, the striker only managed 13 in 36 appearances in his second campaign as Bayer failed to qualify for Europe.

"Because of his qualities he is interesting for several clubs, and we often receive enquiries," Voller told FAZ. "We are relaxed about this, and something could still happen at a later stage."

The Mirror claimed that West Ham are hoping to take advantage of a £13 million release clause in Hernandez's contract to finalise a deal with Mexico's all-time top scorer.

In October, AS reported that Hernandez's contract contained a €45m release clause, but German media have so far denied that.
