Inter Milan rule out Ivan Perisic move to Manchester United

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has told Sky Sport Italia that Ivan Perisic's proposed move to Manchester United is "not going to happen."

Sources have told ESPN FC that United want to push through a deal for Perisic before Inter head to China for their preseason tour next week.

However, while Inter might have sought to stave off potential financial fair play sanctions by balancing their books for last season had the move been completed before the end of June, Ausilio said there is no prospect of a deal at this point.

"It's not going to happen," he said. "He's training very well with us. We have not considered anything that they have offered."

Inter captain Mauro Icardi, though, says the winger should not be forced to stay against his wishes.

"It's not something we talk about within the dressing room, it is something he must think about by himself," Icardi told Mediaset. "If he is not happy to stay here, then he has got to leave, like the coach has said. If he is happy, on the other hand, then he should stay.

"I think Ivan needs to work out what makes him happy and think about himself."

The Croatia international scored 11 times in 36 Serie A matches last season and has a contract with Inter until 2020.
