Shawn Parker joins Nurnberg on loan after signing new Augsburg deal

Nurnberg celebrate
Nurnberg fans will be cheering on Shawn Parker, who has joined the club on a season-long loan.

Shawn Parker has signed a contract extension at Augsburg and immediately joined Nurnberg on a season-long loan deal.

Parker, 23, who has extended his stay at his parent club until June 2019, has dropped down a division in a bid to gain regular first-team football following injury.

"After my long period out with injury it is important for my progression as a player that I play regular football," the forward told Augsburg's official website.

"I'm confident that I can develop my game further."

Augsburg director of sport Stefan Reuter said: "We're convinced that the decision to renew Shawn's contract and loan him out to 1.FC Nurnberg will be a win-win situation for all parties involved.

"We would like to wish Shawn all the very best for the season ahead and hope that he can take the necessary steps to continue his development."
