Werder Bremen close in on move for U.S. international Jordan Morris

Werder Bremen are confident that they will sign U.S. international attacker Jordan Morris, CEO Thomas Eichin has said.

Morris, 21, joined Bremen on trial at their winter training camp in Turkey last week and set up a goal for attacker Claudio Pizarro in his first match for the club on Friday.

Local paper Kreiszeitung noted that "Morris looked exhausted" after a week of training with the Bundesliga outfit.

But speaking to Weser Kurier on Monday, Eichin said a deal for Morris was close.

Morris trained with the Seattle Sounders youth team while playing in college for Stanford, but the forward could still sign for Bremen on a free transfer, with the German club only required to pay a compensation fee in line with the FIFA regulations.

Bremen also hope to land Hungary international Laszlo Kleinheisler, and Eichin said: "The players confirmed during the training camp what we saw in them before.

"They fit into scheme. They will do us good. They are young and capable of development."
