Rivaldo plans comeback in Brazil's Serie B club Mogi Mirim EC

Brazil legend Rivaldo said he plans to make a return to action at the club where he is currently president, Mogi Mirim Esporte Clube in Brazil's Serie B.

Rivaldo, 43, has not played since retiring in March 2014, when he brought the curtain down on a long career that included two La Liga titles with Barcelona as well as a nomadic late-career period at clubs in Uzbekistan and Angola before returning to his homeland.

The 1999 Ballon d'Or winner, who was part of Brazil's World Cup-winning team of 2002, said via Instagram and on the club's website on Tuesday that how he felt in training will help determine his level of involvement.

He wrote: "After much thought and analysis of the pros and cons, I have decided to join the players of Mogi Mirim EC in Brazil's Serie B. This doesn't mean that I am going to play because I stopped for a time and because I have only been administrating at the club. It has been 15 months since I stopped playing professionally. My knee is better and I could even help for some matches, but the training will help me decide."

Rivaldo recently stirred up controversy with the Sao Paolo-based club's fans when he raised ticket prices for home matches from about $6 to about $32, making them the most expensive ticket prices in Brazil.

Mogi Mirim EC are currently bottom of the Serie B table, with three points after eight matches.

"I want to put together a team who can at the very least compete to be in the middle of the classification table," Rivaldo, who started his career at the club, said.
