Bayern stand firm in Sinan Kurt pursuit

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has warned Borussia Monchengladbach that the Bundesliga champions will "simply" sign Sinan Kurt on a free transfer in 2015 if their advances are rejected this summer.

- Transfer Talk: Man United eyeing Vidal deal again
- Brassell: Elite clubs value the homegrown star
- Lovell: Familiar refrain in Bayern opener

Kurt, 18, is regarded as one of the biggest talents in Germany, and has already been compared to former Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Marco Reus.

The Foals had hoped to promote the Germany youth international to their first team in the 2014-2015 season, but a fallout with Bayern has led to Kurt training with the club's under-23 squad, for whom he featured just once as a late substitute on the opening day of the season.

Bayern want to bring in Kurt, and have already reached an agreement with the youngster, who has expressed his wish to join the Bundesliga champions.

However, Monchengladbach have accused Die Roten of poaching an underage player, with the sides negotiating a deal with the then-17-year-old back in May.

According to media reports, Bayern Munich have offered three million euros for Kurt, but Gladbach want about double that amount to let go of the midfielder.

With the summer transfer window open for less than a week, Bayern Munich have reiterated that they hope to reach an agreement with Gladbach in the next couple of days.

"[Foals sporting director] Max Eberl wants more money than [FCB representatives] Matthias Sammer and Michael Reschke have offered," Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Munchener Merkur. "That's normal. They player is under contract until 2015. That shouldn't go unnoticed in Gladbach. And should that not work out, the player will simply join us on a free in 2015."

However, both clubs have conflicting standpoints about the duration of Kurt's contract. The player's agent Michael Decker claims that his client is tied to Gladbach through a so-called "Fordervertrag" -- a contract for underage players in Germany with a maximum length of three years -- and thus the contract he penned as a 16-year-old ends in 2015.

But Borussia Monchengladbach reiterated to ESPN FC on Tuesday that "the contract runs until 2016."

Regardless of the outcome of the current Kurt transfer row, Rummenigge also announced in Munchener Merkur that Bayern will make more funds available for promising youngsters in the future.

"We need to step on the gas; the fight for young Bundesliga talents has been sparked," he said. "We need to develop talents here, who also have the chance to play for Bayern.

"We paid one million euros for Toni Kroos [whom Bayern signed as a 16-year-old from the Hansa Rostock youth academy in 2006] back then. That was a good investment. And we are ready to make more funds available for this purpose in the future."
