Sao Paulo confirm Barca want Douglas

Sao Paulo president Carlos Miguel Aidar has revealed that the club are set to open negotiations with Barcelona over the possibility of selling right-back Douglas.

- LIVE: Transfer Talk

Barca are reportedly keen to cash in on Dani Alves, with Paris Saint-Germain one of the sides to have been credited with an interest in the Brazil international this summer.

Douglas has been touted in the media as a potential replacement at the Camp Nou, and Aidar has now confirmed that the Blaugrana are keen on acquiring the 24-year-old's services.

"Barca want to sell Dani Alves and are looking for a replacement for him, who would be Douglas," he told Sport in quotes picked up by Football Espana.

"The sale isn't completed because we still have to talk and the economics involved in the operation are the Traffic group [who own 40 percent of Douglas' rights], Juan Figger [an intermediary], Sao Paulo and Barca.

"Two months ago our partner Figger asked if we would sell the player to Barca. We said we were willing to negotiate.

"He's doing everything and things are progressing well. We haven't spoken directly to Barca but we are aware of their interest, so are the agents, Traffic. I guess they have already spoken to the player."
