Stoke City boss Mark Hughes fined by FA following Tottenham dismissal

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has been fined £8,000 by the Football Association after accepting a misconduct charge following his dismissal against Tottenham Hotspur.

Hughes was sent to the stands during Stoke's 4-0 loss to Tottenham earlier this month by referee Anthony Taylor after allegedly verbally abusing fourth official Jon Moss following Marko Arnautovic's booking for diving.

The Welshman, who admitted after the match he had stepped out of his technical area and "reacted in a forceful manner," said he would not contest the charge and the FA has now subsequently taken action.

"Mark Hughes has been fined £8000 after he accepted the standard punishment following his FA misconduct charge," an FA statement read.

"The Stoke City manager admitted that his behaviour in or around the 34th minute of the game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sept. 10, 2016 amounted to improper conduct."

After the match, Hughes revealed his frustration at the incident, saying: "I came out of my technical area, I was upset and felt the assistant referee hadn't flagged for a clear foul and the referee then thought it was the right decision to book Marko when he was just trying to take evasive action.

''There were two decisions I thought should have gone our way so I reacted in a forceful manner. When you come out of your technical arena, it's not allowed, sometimes you forget that.

"Mr Moss, bless him, decided that warranted a sending off, which, by the letter of the law it did, so I have to hold my hands up."
