Stoke manager Mark Hughes summed up his team's season as frustrating ahead of their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Potters are winless in their last five games and sit 10th in the table, but over the campaign have had significant wins over clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Victories in their remaining two games, at Palace on Saturday and at home to West Ham on the last day of the season, will see them equal their best Premier League points total of 54, which they achieved last term.
"We have been frustrated, I feel that sums up our season," Hughes told a news conference. "I believe we have excelled at some points, other times we have disappointed ourselves, other times we have had opportunities and we have not been able to do it, and other times where we have played well and not got what we have deserved.
"There has been frustration along with a little bit of disappointment, but there is still two games to go and we can still equal our best points total. The season as a whole is what you should judge us on, rather than the blip, but we are a club that is continuing to progress and we will continue with that next year.
"This year has tested us somewhat with the injuries we have had to deal with and that has probably hampered what we can achieve, but with all that I think we have done OK.''
Hughes' side are on course to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League for the third season in a row.
The Stoke boss believes it would help his players to finish the season on a high after struggling to get a win in the league in April with two draws and three loses.
"[Top 10] is something we always strive for," he said. "When I took over, I wanted us to be a team that was always consistently in the top 10 and for the last two seasons we have done that.
"If we do it again for the third season, then that is something that we have achieved and we should look at with a lot of pride and then we can use that to look forward to bigger and better things hopefully next year.''
