Sporting Kansas City midfielder Benny Feilhaber is in "advanced discussions" towards signing a pre-contract with a club outside of MLS, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations. Feilhaber's contract with SKC expires at the end of the current MLS season. The source confirmed to ESPN FC a recent BBC report that Israeli Premier League champions Hapoel Be'er Sheva had recently tried to acquire the former U.S. international for a transfer fee of $500,000 just prior to the close of the summer transfer window. With less than two months to go in the MLS regular season, that offer was rejected by Kansas City. Feilhaber can sign a pre-contract with any club since he is in last six months of his contract. Speaking through a club spokesperson, Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes said he had "nothing to say" about Feilhaber's contract situation. In an interview with The Kansas City Star, Feilhaber said he hasn't been offered a new deal by Kansas City, though this isn't unusual with the season still going. "I've said numerous times that it would be great to stay here," Feilhaber told The Star. "I've had a great four years here. I like this team, my teammates here, the fans, the coaches. So it would be great to stay here. But as of right now, that hasn't been given to me as an option." Feilhaber, 31, is in his fourth season with SKC, scoring 26 goals and adding 31 assists in 138 appearances overall. In that time he has helped lead the team to one MLS Cup title and a U.S. Open Cup crown. Feilhaber has also played in Germany for Hamburg SV, in England with Derby County, Danish club AGF Aarhus, and the New England Revolution of MLS.
