Former England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams said he did not see his appointment as new head coach of La Liga strugglers Granada coming -- but is ready to give his all to keep the club in the top flight.
Adams, 50, has been handed the reins at Los Carmenes until the end of the season after Lucas Alcaraz saw his third spell as Granada boss end as he was sacked following a 3-1 loss to Valencia.
Five losses in six games leaves the club in 19th place and seven points from safety with only seven games remaining.
Adams is vice-president of DDMC -- a company owned by Granada president John Jiang -- and has been working with the team since November.
But now the former Wycombe, Portsmouth and Gabala boss is stepping in to the manager's seat as he looks to pull off a "miracle."
"I've been here five months and I didn't see this coming," Adams said at his unveiling.
"I want to thank Lucas Alcaraz and I wish him all the best. I will try to win every game and will try some things in training to liven up the team as we try to achieve a miracle."

Adams suggested he does not see the position as a long-term role but said he is ready to ruffle a few feathers among the playing staff to reach his goal.
"I'm very much an interim coach," he added. "I'm here to give the players a kick up the a--- and win games. I have 40 years of experience. Practice makes perfect, that is my way.
"I want us to be tough to beat, we've conceded too many goals. We will fight to win every game, that is what the president wants, it is what the fans want.
"Our focus right now is winning on Sunday. We need to be a tough unit. We have a job to do in the next seven games."
Celta Vigo are the visitors to southern Spain for Adams' first match at the helm as four out of Granada's next five games come against top-half opposition.
A tricky trip to Sevilla is followed up by a home game against Malaga, with La Liga leaders Real Madrid the visitors at the start of May after an away clash at Real Sociedad.
