Carlos Soler lifts Valencia by Celta late as Bebe helps Eibar beat Las Palmas

Valencia's Carlos Soler went from villain to hero with a delicious 86th-minute chipped winner in a 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo in La Liga on Thursday night.

Los Che extended their unbeaten run at the Mestalla to six games, although it looked like they would have to settle for that being four wins and two draws when Iago Aspas scored an 80th-minute penalty having been fouled by Soler.

However, the 20-year-old would make another important contribution at the other end as he lifted a winner over the onrushing Sergio Alvarez.

Celta had gone ahead through Gustavo Cabral's 16th-minute header, but the hosts fought back with two brilliantly worked goals from Dani Parejo and Munir El Haddadi, both scorers applying first-time finishes after incisive moves.

Aspas was awarded a penalty that he converted for his 16th league goal of the season after Soler caught the former Liverpool striker when he cut back, but there was still time for the guilty party to make amends with a terrific winner.

Former Manchester United striker Bebe was on target as Eibar kept themselves in the hunt for Europa League qualification with a 3-1 victory over Las Palmas in La Liga.

The hosts moved just three points adrift of Athletic Bilbao in sixth, and two away away from Real Sociedad in seventh, having led 2-0 at the interval with Bebe scoring one and making another.

Las Palmas pulled one back through Mauricio Lemos' terrific free kick from range but a penalty from Adrian Gonzalez soon restored Eibar's two-goal lead as they followed up their win at Villarreal at the weekend with another three points.

Bebe's opening goal in the 13th minute saw him capitalise on some woeful defending from the visitors and it was his cross that Kike Garcia converted to make it 2-0 before the break.

Lemos' dipping free kick from 30 yards just after the hour mark gave Las Palmas hope but just four minutes later Eibar increased their advantage through Adrian's penalty, which was awarded after consultation between the referee and his assistant when Kike complained he was pulled down by David Simon.
