Atletico Madrid stroll to win over Valencia; Jese strikes for Las Palmas

Atletico Madrid went back into fourth place in La Liga with a 3-0 home win over Valencia.

Diego Simeone's side were in control throughout and opened the scoring through Antoine Griezmann after 10 minutes.

Kevin Gameiro's deflected 20-yard effort and a second for Griezmann followed after the break to leave Atleti a point above fifth-placed Real Sociedad but six behind third-placed Sevilla.

On-loan Jese scored his first goals for Las Palmas as they saw off Osasuna 5-2 at home.

The PSG player opened the scoring after seven minutes and added his second after 87.

His side had 2-1 behind at the break after Kenan Kodro struck after 31 and 37 minutes, but second-half goals from Marko Livaja, an Unai Garcia own goal and Roque Mesa put them 4-2 up before Jese's final flourish.

A solitary strike from Pedro Mosquera in first-half stoppage time was enough to give Deportivo La Coruna a 1-0 victory at Sporting Gijon.

Mosquera headed home after Faycal Fajr had delivered a cross following a corner, with the breakthrough coming after Emre Colak had seen a 32nd-minute penalty saved.

Elsewhere, Athletic Bilbao moved to the cusp of the European places with a 1-0 win over visiting Malaga.

Raul Garcia slotted a 72nd-minute penalty to gather the points and extend the Athletic's unbeaten run at the San Mames Stadium to 13 games.
