Sevilla fans' abuse of Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos condemned by LFP

The Spanish Football League (LFP) has sent a report denouncing abusive language by radical Sevilla fans directed at Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos to the government's anti-violence committee for sports and the country's Football Federation.

Ramos complained during the 3-3 draw at his former club, in the Copa del Rey round-of-16 second leg last Thursday, that a section of home supporters at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium had insulted him throughout the encounter.

La Liga said in a statement that it condemned the abusive chants directed at Ramos and at Real Madrid by the 1,000 radical Sevilla fans known as "Biris Norte."

It highlighted nine episodes during the game where they broke the Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary code, which prohibits chants that "incite violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sports."

Sevilla officially complained to the the LFP about Ramos' goal celebration on Thursday.

Ramos scored a "Panenka" penalty in front of his former club's fans to make it 3-2 in the 83rd minute and celebrated by cupping his hands to his ears.

Real Madrid issued a club statement expressing "complete support" for their skipper. The teams played again at the same venue in La Liga on Sunday with Ramos scoring an own goal in that game as Sevilla came back to win 2-1 and end Madrid's 40-game record unbeaten run.

The Seville-born Ramos was whistled during the warm-up and every time he touched the ball.

Ramos said after the encounter "he tried to ignore it" and had to" accept it."

The Spain international has had a complicated relationship with Sevilla supporters since leaving for Madrid in 2005.
