Athletic Bilbao leapfrog Eibar with easy win; Malaga deny Valencia

Athletic Bilbao cruised to a 3-1 La Liga victory over Eibar on Sunday to leapfrog their visitors in the table.

Etxebarria Benat, Inaki Williams and Iker Muniain scored to send the hosts to seventh, just two points adrift of fourth place. Sergi Enrich scored a second-half consolation for Eibar.

It was the seventh league win of the season for Ernesto Valverde's side and ended Eibar's three-match winning run.

Pablo Fornals' injury-time equaliser denied Valencia a crucial victory in their relegation fight as they drew 2-2 with Malaga.

Midfielder Fornals struck in the third minute of stoppage time just as it looked as if Rodrigo Valencia and Alvaro Medran had given the hosts victory.

Fornals had opened the scoring and his late goal meant Valencia stayed two points above the relegation zone.

Cesare Prandelli's side are now without a win in six games in the league after a run which has dragged them into relegation trouble.

Facundo Roncaglia's late equaliser earned Celta Vigo a 3-3 draw with Real Betis in a thrilling clash.

Celta Vigo went ahead after 15 minutes through Iago Aspas, but Betis came to life and Ruben Castro levelled from the penalty spot just before the break.

Antonio Sanabria and German Pezzella both put the hosts in front but equalisers from Aspas and, in the 85th minute, Roncaglia meant the points were shared.

Sporting Gijon climbed out of the relegation zone with their first win in three months as they condemned rock-bottom Osasuna to a 3-1 defeat.

Carlos Carmona's double and Pereira Douglas gave the hosts their first victory since September, ending an 11-game winless run.

Miguel Flano scored a late consolation for the visitors, but Osasuna have won just once in the league this season and have now lost their last five games in all competitions and remain at the foot of the table.

Victory left Sporting two points above Deportivo La Coruna, but they will drop back into the bottom three if Deportivo beat Real Sociedad on Monday.
