La Liga: Real Madrid salvage late draw in Clasico, Atleti held, Sevilla stunned

Sergio Ramos scored a late equaliser to preserve Real Madrid's six-point lead atop La Liga with a 1-1 draw at Barcelona in the season's firstĀ El Clasico on Saturday.

Luis Suarez's opener looked to have been enough to secure victory for Barca and inflict Madrid's first defeat in all competitions since April 6, but Ramos had the final say as he headed home in the 90th minute.

Suarez headed home Neymar's free kick in the 53rd minute to fire the hosts into the lead, and Barcelona had a number of chances to double their advantage.

But Madrid broke the hosts' dominance just before the clock struck 90 minutes as Ramos headed a Luka Modric free kick past Marc-Andre ter Stegen to stun the Camp Nou.

Atletico Madrid stayed fourth after a goalless draw at home against Espanyol.

Jose Gimenez was wide with a header as Atletico became increasingly desperate for a goal but their last chance fell to Antoine Griezmann and he could not beat the goalkeeper.

The result extended the visitors' unbeaten La Liga run to seven matches.

Earlier, Granada recorded their first La Liga win of the season at the 14th attempt as they beat title-chasing Sevilla 2-1 at Los Carmenes.

A goal in either half from Andreas Pereira and David Lomban, who had earlier made two crucial blocks to deny Sevilla, steered Granada off the bottom of the table.

Wissam Ben Yedder netted Sevilla's reply from the penalty spot late on but there was no time left to search for an equaliser as the Andalusian side missed the chance to increase the pressure on the leaders

Champions League-chasing Villarreal were held to a goalless draw at struggling Leganes.

The visitors failed to generate much in the way of clear-cut opportunities but the draw was at least enough to lift them above Real Sociedad, who play on Monday, into fifth place.
