The Spanish football federation (RFEF) has appointed Carlos Clos Gomez to take charge of next month's Clasico at the Camp Nou.
Clos Gomez, who has never previously taken charge of a league game between Barcelona and Real Madrid, will officiate the match on Dec. 3.
AS reported that Barca have won 17 and drawn three of the 20 games Clos Gomez has officiated, with four penalties in their favour and two against them, while they have not had a player sent off.
However, although Real Madrid have lost four of their 27 games that Clos Gomez has refereed, they have won 18, not been shown a straight red card and been awarded five penalties in total and none against.
Among the wins, though, was a 1-0 triumph over Sevilla in December 2010 that saw then Real coach Jose Mourinho accuse Clos Gomez of making "13 serious errors."
Real had nine players booked in that game at the Bernabeu stadium and had Ricardo Carvalho sent off for a second yellow card.
Clos Gomez made his refereeing debut in La Liga 10 years ago and has been a FIFA official since 2009.
The 44-year-old officiated Barca's 3-2 win over Real in the Spanish Supercup first leg in 2012 and a 1-1 draw in Madrid between the sides in the Copa del Rey semifinal first leg in the 2012-13 campaign.
