Valencia have pic of fan who threw bottle at Barcelona huddle - report

Valencia have said they now have a picture of the fan who threw a bottle at Barcelona stars Neymar and Luis SuarezĀ from the home supporters' Curva Nord stand and are working to identify the person, sources have told Spanish news agency Efe.

As Messi and his teammates celebrated the Blaugrana's winner, a plastic water bottle was thrown from the home supporters' Curva Nord stand into the centre of Barcelona's huddle.

Neymar and Luis Suarez were both hit by objects and fell to the pitch, leading Messi to confront the fans and pump his fist with a tirade of curses near the end of Saturday's 3-2 win at the Mestalla.

Valencia issued a statement after Saturday's match saying that they would not tolerate violent acts and would be investigating.

Valencia said they were collaborating with local police and on Monday said they already have the image of the fan and will proceed to identify the person.

The Barcelona players escaped serious injury, as did Paco Alcacer, a former Valencia player, who was earlier hit in the face by a bag of sunflower seeds.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said: "We've celebrated a goal as you have to celebrate a winning goal against a rival that's made things so difficult."

Valencia manager Cesare Prandelli said he did not see the incident.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, the club face league sanctions that range from a fine to a stadium ban.
