PSG interested in Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone - source

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone remains undecided on his future amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain, a source close to the Spanish club has told ESPN FC.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has hinted that current coach Laurent Blanc could be replaced after the failure to beat Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals and he also told Le Parisien he was impressed with Atletico's performances, saying he had "great respect" for their "motivation."

ESPN FC has been told that third-party representatives have sounded out Simeone for the French club, with the Argentine having confirmed after Saturday's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid that he is thinking over his future.

A source close to the Vicente Calderon hierarchy also said Simeone has been deeply affected by the loss to Real Madrid, which was the second in three years to the same club at the same stage.

The source added that Simeone would feel regret at leaving the club he loves with that European defeat as his last act.

Fernando Torres, who is close to signing a deal to stay on at Atletico, has said he is hopeful that Simeone will also remain with the club.

"We all want him to stay, we would love for him to stay," Torres said during a public appearance. "He has asked for time to think and reflect and he has earned that. The rest [of the talk] is all hypotheses."
