Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said he had told Luka Modric to shoot more after the Croatian's wonder strike sealed Sunday evening's 2-1 La Liga win at Granada.
Madrid went ahead through Karim Benzema on 30 minutes, but were never in control of the game, and Granada's equaliser on the hour mark through Youssef El-Arabi was no big surprise.
The encounter seemed headed for a draw which would leave Madrid well adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona, until Modric hammered a 25-yard shot to the top corner with just five minutes left.
Los Blancos coach told his post-game news conference that he had spoken recently with the ex-Tottenham player and asked him to get forward more and try and score.
"[Modric] scored a golazo, so I celebrated that, and the three points," Zidane said. "I am happy for him, as he has to shoot more. He should shoot more. He can get forward more, he can also play as a No. 10. He showed today he has a phenomenal shot."
The three points mean Madrid remain one behind second placed Atletico, and four adrift of leaders Barca (who have a game in hand), and Zidane said he was happy his players had kept going for a result which just about keeps them in the title race.
"I am leaving happy with effort the players put in," he said. "Football is like that, we will not win games easily. That does not exist in football. We fought until the end, and are happy with that. I am proud of what the team did."
Madrid have scored easily at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu recently, but their big name attackers -- including a very quiet Cristiano Ronaldo -- had a disappointing evening in front of goal at Los Carmenes.
"In attack we should score more goals," Zidane said. "We had many opportunities, but we know at this level we must take them. If you want to be a bit more relaxed in the game, when you get a chance you must take it. We must improve in everything, and we will."
The team's poor away form was not a particular concern ahead of the trip to Roma in the Champions League in 10 days time, Zidane maintained.
"We are ready, and we know all games will be difficult," he said. "We are ready for that -- and we have showed it today over the 90 minutes. You will have difficulties in games, we know that can happen away from home."
Left-back Marcelo appeared to end the game with a shoulder injury, while first choice right-back Dani Carvajal was substituted late on, and back-up Danilo was left out of the match squad entirely.
"Danilo did not come with us as he felt some pain and we did not want to take any risks," Zidane said. "Dani Carvajal does not have a problem, just something small, he was tired. We do not know exactly what Marcelo has, it is his shoulder."
