David Moyes 'interested' in European coaching roles despite Sociedad sack

David Moyes is "open minded" over taking another coaching role in continental Europe despite being sacked by Real Sociedad earlier in November.

Moyes, 52, was sacked a day before his one-year anniversary at La Real following a poor start to the 2015-16 campaign, with nine points from the opening 11 La Liga games sealing the manager's fate.

The former Preston, Everton and Manchester United manager has been linked with a return to England, but would consider another move to one of Europe's top leagues.

When asked about coaching on the continent, Moyes told BBC Radio 5 live: "I'm open minded and Spain whetted my appetite.

"If the right opportunities came up in the major leagues I'd be interested."

Despite being sacked by Sociedad, Moyes believes his time in Spain will make him a stronger coach in the long run.

"I think the experience will help me," he added. "I gained great knowledge from my time there. It was great to experience what I did and I hope that will make me better.

"It's very difficult to compare the two leagues. The best teams are in Spain and many of the best players are in Spain."

La Real won just twice this season before Moyes' departure. The Scot led the club to a 12th-placed finish in the 2014-15 campaign, and had been due to stay at Anoeta until June 2016.

Moyes said after his sacking that he felt "let down" by La Real president Jokin Aperribay, who he believes found the pressure from the local media "very difficult" to deal with.

The coach added that he wanted a challenge which "excites me -- here or in another country."
