Luis Suarez hat trick leads Barcelona past Eibar, Martinez scores for Atleti

Hat-trick hero Luis Suarez led Barcelona to a 3-1 win over a hard-fighting Eibar to go level on points with La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

Borja struck to hand Eibar a shock lead after 10 minutes, but Suarez headed Barca level at the Camp Nou 11 minutes later. The forward then added his second three minutes after half-time, and completed his treble to wrap up the win five minutes from time.

Luis Enrique's club are still playing without talisman Lionel Messi, who suffered a knee injury in Sept. 26 and is not fit to play yet.

Since Messi's injury, Neymar or Suarez have been involved in 14 of Barcelona's 15 goals in La Liga and Champions League.

Neymar's five assists this season have come in the past three games with two versus BATE Borisov, one against Rayo Vallecano and two more Sunday in the win over Eibar.

Atletico Madrid defeated Valencia 2-1 to stay within two points of Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the Primera Division.

The home side's pressure grew during the first half and goals from Jackson Martinez and Yannick Carrasco were the least they deserved.

A 72nd-minute penalty from Paco Alcacer gave Valencia hope of stealing a point, but the hosts held on.

David Moyes' Real Sociedad moved clear of the relegation zone with a thumping 4-0 win at 10-man Levante.

Carlos Vela set the visitors on their way and rounded off the scoring late in the second half, while Imanol Agirretxe netted before half-time to double the visitors' lead and Asier Illarramendi grabbed his first goal since returning to the club.

The Basques move up to 14th place in the table with this morale-boosting win -- three points clear of Levante, who slip down to 19th.

Elsewhere, lowly Las Palmas claimed a hard-earned point against high-flying Villarreal as their match ended 0-0.

Las Palmas restricted their opponents to few chances for the draw, but remain in the relegation zone, while Villarreal are fourth, four points behind leaders Real Madrid.
