Sergio Busquets doesn't expect Pep Guardiola to coach Barcelona again

Sergio Busquets does not believe Pep Guardiola will ever go back to Barcelona as a coach, but hopes he does eventually return in another role.

Busquets was given his break in the Barcelona first team in 2008 after Pep Guardiola had replaced Frank Rijkaard as boss, and has gone on to make 212 Liga appearances and win the Champions League twice among a host of honours.

The midfielder believes Guardiola is the best coach he has ever worked with.

"I don't think he'll return as a coach, but maybe someday in another function," he told Sport Bild. "As a Barcelona fan you can only wish for his return someday."

Barca knocked Guardiola out of the Champions League this season when beating Bayern Munich in the semifinals.

"We had a bit of time to talk at those games," Busquets said. "I still owe him a lot for what he enabled me to do, and for what we achieved.

"For me, he will always be the best coach. What he has done for the club as a player and as a coach will never be forgotten."

Either Barcelona or Juventus will complete the Treble of domestic league title, cup and Champions League in Saturday's European final in Berlin. Sport Bild looked back to Guardiola's Barca team of 2009 which completed the same feat, but Busquets was quick to insist there are few comparisons.

"You can't compare [the two teams now and then]. A lot of players and coaches were swapped since then. The competition is stiffer [Barca beat Man United], but we still hope for the same result: The Treble," Busquets said.
