Malaga tie down Samuel Garcia until 2019

Malaga forward Samuel Garcia has signed a three-year extension to his contract with the La Liga side.

The 24-year-old will now remain at La Rosaleda until the end of the 2018-19 season if the Spaniard sees out his new deal.

Malaga were keen to tie Samuel to a long-term contract with Liverpool and Valencia reportedly keen to acquire the player's services this summer.

A statement from Malaga read: "Malaga and Samuel Garcia have reached an agreement for the player to remain at the club until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.''

The Malaga-born player has scored eight goals in 59 appearances since making his La Liga debut with the Andalusian outfit in August 2013.

Samuel has scored four goals and set up two more in 25 league appearances for Malaga this season.

Malaga are seventh in La Liga and in the race to qualify for next season's Europa League.

Samuel's new deal keeps in line with the club's policy of holding onto their young talents.

Malaga have already this season extended the contracts of midfielders Darder, Juanpi and Recio as well as strikers Juanmi and Samu Castillejo.
