Ronaldo was not involved against Inter Milan on Saturday but completed a gym programme before taking part in a separate session away from the rest of the Real Madrid group at UCLA on Sunday.

The 29-year-old is being managed carefully by fitness coach Santi Lozano after struggling with a tendonitis problem in his knee during the World Cup.

AS reports Real have designed a specific plan in order to bring Ronaldo up to speed with the rest of the group in time for the new season. Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Xabi Alonso, Fabio Coentrao and a group of Real youngsters took part in a training session with coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The players involved in the 1-1 draw against Inter, including Gareth Bale, Daniel Carvajal, Pepe, Asier Illarramendi and Isco, were involved in a gym-based session.

Defender Alvaro Arbeloa stepped up his return from a knee injury that kept him out of Spain's squad for the World Cup and trained with the group.

Real will now travel to Dallas where they will face Roma on July 30 before facing Manchester United in Michigan on Aug. 2.
