Real Madrid shouldn't sell Gareth Bale this summer - Alvaro Arbeloa

Zinedine Zidane believes Real Madrid will be able to continue moving up the La Liga table after his team go third with a 3-1 win over Leganes.

Alvaro Arbeloa has defended Gareth Bale amid media speculation Real Madrid will try to offload the Wales international this summer.

Reports in Spain claim that Bale has "run out of credit" at the Bernabeu and that his time with the European champions is coming to an end.

Bale, who cost Madrid a then world-record £85 million when he joined from Tottenham in 2013, has been plagued by injuries during his time in La Liga and has only started one of Real's last four games.

Villarreal's Ruben Semedo detained without bail over alleged kidnap, assault

Ruben Semedo faces accusations of assault, kidnap and robbery.

A judge in Valencia ruled on Thursday that Villarreal defender Ruben Semedo must be detained without bail pending trial.

Semedo faces charges of attempted murder, kidnap, robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The 23-year-old was arrested on Tuesday after a complaint was made against him by the alleged victim of an incident last week.

The Valencia High Court of Justice (TSJCV) said on Thursday: "Magistrate court number 6 in Lliria (Valencia) has ordered Villarreal player Ruben Semedo to be...

Barcelona's Sergi Roberto signs contract extension until 2022

ESPN FC's Ale Moreno wonders if high expectations at Barcelona are hindering Ousmane Dembélé's ability to regain his form and find his place in the starting lineup.
Relive the best of Tuesday's Champions League action, as Bayern Munich routed Besiktas and Lionel Messi silenced Stamford Bridge.

BARCELONA -- Sergi Roberto turned down more lucrative offers to remain at Barcelona, extending his contract with the club until 2022.

Roberto, 25, signed his new deal at Camp Nou on Thursday alongside president Josep Maria Bartomeu, with his buyout clause rising to €500 million.

Chelsea and Manchester United were among the clubs to show an interest in Roberto last summer, when his release clause stood at just €40m, but the Premier League sides were unable to turn his head.

Barcelona hope to keep best players following Neymar sale - Bartomeu

Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic felt his side dominated the game and were worthy of rescuing a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.
ESPN FC's Ale Moreno wonders if high expectations at Barcelona are hindering Ousmane Dembélé's ability to regain his form and find his place in the starting lineup.
Courtois, Pedro and Azpilicueta believe Chelsea have shown they can beat Barcelona after their 1-1 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has told Bloomberg the club have no intention of selling any of their players in the summer, saying he wanted to avoid a repeat of the Neymar situation.

Barca were unable to prevent Neymar leaving for Paris Saint-Germain when they paid the Brazil international's €222 million buyout clause in August.

In a move designed to prevent a similar scenario arising, Barcelona have begin increasing the release clauses in some of their leading players' contracts.

Barcelona's Luis Suarez proud of Philippe Coutinho's Liverpool maturity

With no goals or assists in his first four games, ESPN FC's Sid Lowe explains why Barcelona shouldn't worry about Philippe Coutinho just yet.
Ernesto Valverde credits substitute Philippe Coutinho for propelling Barcelona to their Copa del Rey semi-final win over Valencia.

Luis Suarez admires the responsibility a young Philippe Coutinho took on at Liverpool after Steven Gerrard left Anfield for the LA Galaxy.

Suarez, along with Lucas Leiva and Sebastian Coates, was part of the group Coutinho socialised with when he first moved to England from Italy in 2013, but Suarez then signed for Barcelona in 2014.

"When the opportunity came up for me to come to Barcelona, I told Gerrard to look after [Coutinho] when I left," Suarez told the Catalan club's magazine. "But then...
