Lionel Messi like Batman compared to other players - Sevilla's Jorge Sampaoli

Diego Maradona has said that Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala are not on the same level as Lionel Messi.

Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli has again heaped praise on Lionel Messi, claiming the Barcelona star is "Batman" compared to the rest of the players.

Sampaoli -- who has been tipped to succeed Luis Enrique at Barca -- recently revealed his wish to manage Messi one day, describing his fellow Argentine as "the best in the world."

Messi finished runner-up to Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo for both the Ballon d'Or award and FIFA's Best Men's Player for 2016, but Sampaoli told beIN SPORTS ESPANA:...

Manchester City target Ivan Rakitic wants Barcelona stay

Craig Burley digs into the latest January transfer rumours with Ivan Rakitic's link to Man City headlining.

Ivan Rakitic says he wants to commit his future to Barcelona despite continued speculation linking him with Manchester City.

Rakitic has been in and out of the Barca side recently and has not started a league game since the draw with Real Madrid on Dec. 3.

He has started three Copa del Rey matches since then, though, including Thursday's win at Real Sociedad.

President Josep Maria Bartomeu has previously said the club want to tie the Croatian down to a new deal and the player has said that is also...

Inter Milan not buying Lionel Messi, planning big signing - Massimo Moratti

Gab Marcotti assesses Inter Milan's win over Chievo and believes Roberto Gagliardini played like 'a young Steven Gerrard'.

Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says there are no plans for Lionel Messi to join the Serie A club, although he claims the Nerazzurri's new owners are planning a big-name signing in the summer.

Moratti dined with his successor at Inter, Erick Thohir, and Steven Zhang, the son of the owner of the club's current majority stakeholders Suning, on Thursday and he emerged afterwards to tell reporters how ambitious their plans are.

Lionel Messi should have seen red card, says furious Asier Illarramendi

Craig Burley and Steve Nicol say the title race is back on in La Liga after Real Madrid's loss to Sevilla.

Asier Illarramendi was furious Lionel Messi was not sent off as Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 1-0 in the Copa del Rey on Thursday to end a 10-year wait for a win at Anoeta.

Messi was booked in the first half for time wasting and Illarramendi felt he should then have seen a second yellow card for obstruction when he stopped him taking a quick free kick after the break. Messi has only been sent off once in his career for club and country on his debut for Argentina against Hungary in 2005.

Andres Iniesta set for tests after injuring calf in Barcelona's win

Andres Iniesta, right, could not finish Barcelona's victory over Real Sociedad.

Andres Iniesta will have tests on a calf problem on Friday after being forced off during Barcelona's 1-0 Copa del Rey win over Real Sociedad.

Neymar scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as Barca ended a 10-year wait for a win at Anoeta, but the victory was tainted by Iniesta's injury.

The midfielder was replaced by Andre Gomes at half-time after complaining of a light pain and the Blaugrana will hope that the knock is nothing serious.

A statement from the club after the game confirmed:...
