Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez: Playing time up to Real Madrid

Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez says his playing time is in the hands of coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Fresh off his goal-scoring performance in Real Madrid's 4-1 Copa del Rey victory over Cornella, on-loan striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez refused to be drawn on whether he deserves more playing time from coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The Mexico international's chances as a Madrid starter have been just as elusive as they were at Manchester United thus far: He has started just...

FA Cup, Copa del Rey could be played after 2022 Qatar World Cup

The European Club Association is proposing an April-May timeframe for the 2012 World Cup in Qatar, arguing it would be less disruptive to the domestic season than Sepp Blatter's November-December solution.

LONDON -- English and Spanish cup competitions could be completed in June 2022, after a World Cup in Qatar, under proposals being presented to FIFA next week by leading European clubs.

The European Club Association is proposing an April-May timeframe for the World Cup, arguing it would be less disruptive to the season than FIFA president Sepp Blatter's favoured November-December solution for avoiding playing in the fiercest summer heat in Qatar.

The ECA outline for an April 28-May 29 tournament envisages...

Raphael Varane's towering headers lead Real Madrid in Copa del Rey

The FC team debate whether or not Isco will remain in the starting XI once Gareth Bale returns from injury.

Real Madrid began their defence of the Copa del Rey, the first trophy Carlo Ancelotti won as Blancos boss, in somewhat of a no-win situation at third-tier Cornella on Wednesday night. Regardless, they came through the first-leg tie getting the job done with an eventually comfortable 4-1 victory.

Seven changes were understandably made following the energy-sapping 3-1 Clasico triumph over Barcelona at the weekend but such are Madrid's deep riches that the outcome was never really in doubt. Oscar Munoz,...

Carlo Ancelotti says comments about Sepp Blatter misunderstood

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes his star goalscorer is a lock to win the Ballon d'Or.
Raphael Varane scored twice as Real Madrid eased by Cornella in their Copa del Rey first leg match.

Carlo Ancelotti has taken back his criticism of Sepp Blatter, with the Real Madrid coach admitting a mistake in thinking the FIFA president had backed Manuel Neuer over Cristiano Ronaldo for this year's Ballon d'Or trophy.

On Wednesday morning, Ancelotti told reporters that it was "impossible to shut up" Blatter, and that any suggestion Neuer was more deserving of the trophy for the best player in 2014 was nonsense.

Blatter had in fact suggested that Neuer should have won the Golden Ball prize,...

Real Madrid too good for Cornella in Copa del Rey

Raphael Varane restores Real Madrid's lead at Cornella.

Raphael Varane headed in two corner kicks to help Real Madrid start their Copa del Rey title defence with a 4-1 win at third-division Cornella on Wednesday.

The France centre-back opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the first leg before Cornella striker Oscar Munoz levelled to the delight of the home fans in the 20th.

But Varane struck again from a corner in the 36th minute before forward Javier Hernandez and Marcelo added goals in the second half.

Hernandez rolled Madrid's third past Segovia...
