Vicente del Bosque hailed by Sir Alex Ferguson at UEFA conference

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has paid a glowing tribute to ex-Spain coach Vicente del Bosque after presenting him with an award during a UEFA conference in Paris.

The long-time United boss was among many coaches and technical directors to gather in the French capital to assess this summer's Euro 2016 tournament that was held in the country.

Among those in attendance was Julen Lopetegui, Del Bosque's successor as Spain coach. Del Bosque ended his eight-year spell in charge of La Roja following their round-of-16 elimination in France by Italy.

"Success changes certain people but Vicente has never changed," Ferguson said. "He guided Spain with class and his national team will always be remembered for how they played."

Del Bosque led Spain to their first World Cup triumph in 2010 and followed that success by clinching the country's second successive European Championship two years later.

Del Bosque, who previously captured two Champions League crowns and two La Liga titles in a four-year spell in charge of Real Madrid between 1999 and 2003, continues to work for the Royal Spanish Football Federation as an advisor.
