Vicente del Bosque suggests he may quit Spain job following Euro 2016

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque said it would be "normal" if he leaves his role after Euro 2016.

Del Bosque, 64, guided La Roja to wins at the World Cup in 2010 and Euro 2012, but then oversaw their shock group-stage exit at last summer's World Cup in Brazil.

After some early stumbles, the veteran guided Spain to next summer's European Championship in France, while gradually evolving the team after the retirement of some former mainstays including Xavi Hernandez and Xabi Alonso.

His contract runs until the end of that competition, and up until now the former Real Madrid coach has been coy on his plans for afterwards, saying he would discuss things with Royal Spanish Football Federation president Angel Maria Villar before then making a decision.

However, in an interview with RMC, Del Bosque appears to suggest that he will most likely make way for a successor ahead of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

"There's a lot of time until the Euros," Del Bosque said. "Afterwards you have to hand over to the federation and wait to see what the president will say. I think that what would be normal would be to leave it to a new manager.

"I've been here for a lot of time. We've won one World Cup and two European Championships. It's necessary to move on to someone else and to a new cycle."
