Southampton can't keep Sadio Mane forever - Ronald Koeman

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman says the club will be unable to keep hold of Sadio Mane if he continues to produce performances like he did in the 3-1 win against Chelsea on Saturday.

Mane, 23, found the back of the net at Stamford Bridge as he helped the Saints to a memorable victory over the Premier League champions.

The Senegal international, who was linked with a summer move to Manchester United, has now hit four goals in three games and Koeman is resigned to eventually losing the forward if he continues to replicate such form.

"OK, maybe one day we will lose Mane but then we have to be prepared," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Echo.

"You know in our situation that kind of players, if they play like today, there will come a lot of interest in the end of the season. But now we enjoy watching Mane in our team.

"He is very fast and he is showing also now to be very clever out of his positions. I think he changed well the position in front and it was difficult for Chelsea to defend well.

"Of course, then if you play good football, you need that kind of player on the top level they can bring. He was fantastic."

Southampton have seen a number of key players lured away by bigger clubs in recent years, including Morgan Schneiderlin, Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana.
