Southampton terminate contract of striker Dani Osvaldo

Southampton have terminated the contract of club record signing Dani Osvaldo, the Premier League club have announced.

Osvaldo, 29, was on loan from the Premier League club to Inter Milan until the end of the season, but was sent back this winter after an on-field row with teammate Mauro Icardi and went to Boca instead.

A statement read: "Southampton Football Club can confirm that it has terminated the contract of striker Dani Osvaldo. The Italian international, who has not played for the club since January 2014, yesterday completed a loan spell with Argentinian club Boca Juniors."

Osvaldo's future at Southampton ended after a bloody training ground bust-up with teammate Jose Fonte at the club's training base in January 2014.

Southampton handed the striker a public dressing down and a two-week ban following the incident and made it clear that he did not have a future by sending him on loan to Juventus.
